May 21, 2011 I made my dreams come true. I grew up riding motorcycles, then I got into sports, got married, had kids, and life happened. I never gave up on my dream of riding again, but when you are a mom, your priorities change. So I told myself that when my kids were grown and out of the house, I'd ride again. My girl moved out in March and I began looking for the perfect bike for me. Mark has an ultra and it's great for long rides having the tour pack and hard bags. We discussed our future riding and decided we'd like to take longer trips. That meant I'd need a comfortable bike as well as one with bags. I started looking at Street Glides (because they are the toughest looking bike to me). All I could find was black. There are probably a gazillion used black Street Glides. I kept looking and I happened upon a used Ultra that the owner had customized to look like a SG. She is blue and silver and she's beautiful. and now she is mine.
I had to come up with a good name for her so after giving it much thought, I named her Gemma. Yep, if you watch Sons of Ararchy, you know who I'm talking about. She is the tough matriarch but she also has a soft side. I had thought about naming her Lilith, but if you know who that is, you know she can be a little "devilish". with my luck she would throw me off first thing. So Gemma it is.
now, off I go to ride.....
I am adding to this over 2 years later. I just went back and read this post. Maybe I should have named that bike Lillith because Gemma did toss me the first ride. Throttle stuck. bitch. (9/24/13)
