An online journal to share my random musings and poems

I started this blog as an online journal for myself to revisit where I have been and contemplate where I am going. Now I am going to fill it with the poetry I have been writing.

change is good

What a difference an hour can make.  This is my second week on my new hours, 7:30 to 4:30 and I absolutely love it.  getting home at 5 is the bomb.  i still have plenty of time to go workout, talk with the girl, cook supper, walk the dogs, do whatever I want.  leaving at 4:30 puts me home in half an hour instead of 45 minutes to an hour.  my whole outlook has changed.  all because of one hour.  things at the job are still status quo, i am still doing the stuff I don't like doing and don't want to do, but just getting out of here has put my mind in a better place.

the girl started college yesterday.  that's a big change for her.  she texted me in her first class laughing at the fact her professor cusses.  it is a whole new world for her.  but she was happy when she got home so this change is going to be good for her.  plus her bestie has the same schedule so they can carpool.

working out is going well.  i am still completely out of shape but i am on a good schedule.  i found a website "couch potato to 5K in 2 months".  I am trying to stick to their schedule to work myself up to being able to jog a mile soon.  you start off alternating jogging 60 seconds with walking 90 seconds until you have 5 minutes for a cool down.  i am up to the second week of jogging 90 seconds and walking 60.  so far so good.  my heart rate really gets up there but that's the point isn't it?  I actually did the elyptical (sorry for spelling) yesterday.  i made myself stay on it for 30 minutes.  my legs were like noodles when i swapped to the bike but i still got in 30 good minutes on it too.  i have lost a few pounds which is great.  i realize you have to lose the weight slow or it won't stay off. and having batman working out with me is a plus, we push each other.

the next change i am looking forward to is the weather.  i will mention this often, i love fall.  the colors on the trees changing from green to reds and yellows and purples along with the crispness in the air just makes me come alive.  I even welcome the cold of winter.  the heat in the summer is just stifling.  spring is ok when the flowers are blooming but as i get older i have started getting alergies I never had before.  i would love to find somewhere it is fall all year long.  i'd move there in a heart beat.

  1. YAY! I'm so glad that you're back to writing, and that you are keeping up with the work-outs. I admire you so much for sticking with that! I know it's hard work, but the results are worth it. Losing weight is a plus for all of us, but getting to a better place for your overall health is the real benefit. Keep at it. I am encouraging you from afar in all things!!!!
